Marian Foundation Scholarship 2018


Kiera Worthington of St Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Mairehau, has won the 2018 Marian Foundation Scholarship for Marian College.  Kiera and her parents Paul and Jacinta were thrilled to receive the news from Marian College Principal Mrs Mary-Lou Davidson on Thursday.  The scholarship will be presented to Kiera at the Marian College junior prize giving on Tuesday morning 12 December, the last day of Term 4.

Kiera will join her sister, Jodie Worthington, who will be completing her final year at Marian College in 2018.

Awarded to the top academic student from incoming Year 9 students, Kiera was the top ranked student in a combination of assessment tests.  Students from more than 30 primary and intermediate schools around greater Christchurch will start their first year of high school at Marian College next year.

The first Marian Foundation Scholarship was presented in 2006 and is awarded annually. It covers financial contributions for two years initially and is renewed annually, subject to academic progress.

The Marian Foundation was established in 1998, under former Marian College Principal Bernadette Devonport. The Foundation is a trust administered by volunteers who donate their time and business knowledge. As well as funding scholarships, the Marian Foundation has provided significant funding for the benefit of Marian students.
