Colours and Excellence Awards guest speaker: Jess Maclennan

Marian College was honoured to have former Mainland Tactix Captain Jess Maclennan presenting at the September Colours and Excellence Awards 2018 on Tuesday.

The talented netball defender shared her journeys of rehabilitation after experiencing three season-ending injury in four years. She described how she made a conscious decision of how she was going to react to being injured, yet again.

“After I’d spent two days crying, again, I decided it was up to me how I deal with this.”

“Now, I’m 13 weeks post-surgery and I’ve started running and jumping again,” said Jess. “I’m not done with netball yet!”

Jess Macllenan also shared how important it is to maintain a balance in life, and how she made a conscious effort to place equal importance on her career in food and nutrition, as well as netball.

“In fact, I think having something else to focus on makes me a better netballer,” Jess says.
